Sylvia Leighton and Diana Zerr have been visiting the orphanage about once a month to every 6 weeks.  We have been driving across using our Sentry passes that enable us to return via the inside expedited lanes that gets you across the border very quickly.  It costs about $80 a year and you go through an immigration clearance process.  The only people we can carry in our cars when using these lanes are people who also have valid Sentry passes as well.  It is the safest way to return across the border.

A special thanks to all who donate to Los Ninos de la Promesa orphanage in Tijuana.  They have moved to a new facility where they are renting again and funds are needed for fixing their new facility which is located  farther from the border.  When we brought monetary donations in August God was truly watching over the children because they were down to change and the money literally put food on the table.  Thank-you God and Hope Church!

In September Sylvia Leighton and Diana Zerr cooked Sunday lunch for the children and staff.  We cooked 4 large hams (With help from our husbands), Beans, Tortillas, Fruit, Cookie Fairy Cookies and Cupcakes.  We brought small gifts of appreciation for the cooks and served on disposable eating supplies so the cooks would not have to wash dishes.  We brought monetary donations from church, clothing donations (although I do not have room to store much), and Pull-up Disposable diapers since the kids are growing up). On our regular visits in addition to the donations, we bring new or used soccer balls, Diana does a craft with them, Sylvia hands out cookies as the Cookie Fairy and tells stories with puppets in Spanish.

Tax Deductable Donations may be made to Hope UMC with "Ninos de la Promesa" in the Note Field if using a check  or on front of envelope if using cash.

The orphanage will have a table at the Alternative Christmas Fair this year.  Please consider this worthwhile mission as one of your  gifts.   Those children are quite amazing.  Come talk to me!
