Foundation

"I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, hears my words,
and acts on them. That one is like a man building a house,
who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock;
when a flood arose, the river burst against that house
but could not shake it, because it had been well built."
                                                               Luke 6:47-48

What is Hope Foundation?

We all are familiar with church giving. We pledge annually and put our envelopes into the collection plates. The money is spent on current expenses. Hopefully, at year’s end, we have enough income to meet the expenses. Then there is the building fund, to which we contribute funds to build a new building. There is also a third fund which is the Hope Foundation.

The Foundation is our "plan ahead" place where we can put money aside, sort of like a 401(K). This is an endowment, which we invest and from which we use the earnings for scholarships, program start-up costs, major church maintenance, etc. The Foundation by-laws do not allow any of the principal or earnings to be used for salaries, current church programs or new buildings.

The Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees which consists of nine Hope UMC members elected by the Charge Conference.
