|Hope UMC Foundation|
The Hope UMC Foundation is a California Corporation, specifically a Section 501(c)3 non-profit charitable corporation. It is a separate entity from the church and operates under an established operating doctrine, articles of incorporation and by-laws.
The Foundation is organized with a Board of Directors who elect a chairman, a vice-chairman, a secretary and a treasurer each year. The fiscal year for the Foundation is July1st through June 30th.
The specific purpose of the Foundation is to provide monetary support for the aid, promotion, and development of the religious purposes, functions and programs of San Diego County Hope United Methodist church as follows:
The source of foundation money is primarily the estate plans of church members. Some members have designated funds of their estate to specific purposes as managed by the foundation. Funds have been designated for college scholarships and church camp financial assistance for church members. As an entity separate from the church, the foundation is uniquely positioned to manage designated funds in accordance with a church member's direction.
The Annual Report of the Foundation activities gives a representation of how the Hope UMC Foundation supports the church and its members.
