|Prayer and Healing|
Prayer & Healing: opportunities to deepen our conversation with God and healing the soul.
"Make me to know your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths."
Mission Statement: We humbly come before the Triune God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to rest in His presence and surrender to His healing, and transforming divine power through praise, intercession, meditation, listening and waiting. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
John Wesley, on prayer and devotions: "Is your soul in heaviness . . .? Then let your prayer consist of such confessions, petitions, and supplications, as are agreeable to your distressed situation of mind. On the contrary, is your soul in peace? Are you rejoicing in God? . . . Then say, with the Psalmist: "Thou art my God, and I will love thee: Thou art my God, and I will praise thee." You may, likewise, when you have time, add to your other devotions a little reading and meditation, and perhaps a psalm of praise, -- the natural effusion of a thankful heart." (taken from Sermon 89, 1872)
Are you interested in deepening your prayer life? We want to join together in this most central of all spiritual disciplines. Please select one or more of the following areas and let's be in touch!
Prayers and Squares: A special group for quilters!
Prayer Chain: Hope Church has a continual prayer chain consisting of many members who offer prayers for those in need. If you would like a name placed on the prayer chain, please call the office or send an email with the information to HOPE@hopeumc.com.
24 Hour Prayer Line: Healthcare concerns are not the only problems on people's minds these days. The threat of terror and constant anxiety of what's going to happen next have us all a little on edge, perhaps. A lot of people are turning to a 24-hour prayer center at the Upper Room. http://www.upperroom.org/prayer_center/
