Hope Christian Preschool is an early childhood program that is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC administers the largest and most widely recognized accreditation system for all types of early childhood schools and child care centers. NAEYC is the nation's largest organization of early childhood educators.
What is accreditation? Early childhood programs accredited by the NAEYC Academy for Early Childhood Program Accreditation have voluntarily undergone a comprehensive process of internal self-study, and had an invited external professional review to verify compliance with the Criteria for High-Quality Early Childhood Programs. The Criteria can be found on NAEYC's Web site at www.naeyc.org/accreditation.
Program Philosophy
The preschool serves as a ministry to the children and families of Hope United Methodist Church and the surrounding community. Our focus is to assist children and their families in developing a sense of trust, warmth, and appreciation of God's love.
Christian nurturing is encouraged through weekly Chapel time, daily praise, Bible stories, and traditional celebration of Christian holidays.
The curriculum offers a developmental play-oriented program, providing experiences and materials appropriate to each child's age. All of our activities are aimed at helping the child build large and small muscle skills, develop abilities in group situations, and have a readiness to investigate and take part in the world around them. Pre literary and math skills are addressed, along with exposure to science, art, music and dramatic play. One field trip or special activity is planned monthly.
Staff
As a Christian Preschool we have brought together staff members according to their unique talents and spiritual gifts; we encourage the staff to share these qualities with the children. In addition to having professional education and relevant experience, we require that each of our teachers be a professing Christian and have a genuine love and concern for young children. Participation in professional conferences and in-service training opportunities are provided regularly for all staff members.
Parent Involvement
We encourage parents and teachers to work together to create the best possible experience for the children. This is accomplished through required parent involvement in their child's classroom. We conduct individual parent conferences, publish monthly newsletters, and provide parent education opportunities. Parents are always welcome visitors in our classrooms at all times.
*Rates subject to change annually.
The preschool is in session September through June and closely follows the holidays and vacations of the Poway Unified School District. A school year calendar is given to parents in the Fall.
